This dream sequence aims to portray desires that continuously arise under contemporary consumerism but can never be fully satisfied. The protagonist is a young girl deeply immersed in consumerism. Consumption does not bring lasting satisfaction, but endless emptiness. She tries to fill the emptiness within herself through the desire to shop repeatedly, but ultimately falls into a cycle of “desire – satisfaction – emptiness – the emergence of desire again.”
The dream in the first half of the film is a projection of the girl’s insatiable desires. No matter what, she cannot resist this temptation. The second half uses black-and-white imagery to portray her reality: empty and boring, yet she remains unable to escape desire.
